Sawyers Hall College has recorded its best GCSE results for six years. With a
14 percent increase in the pass rate since 2006, the number of students
achieving five or more A* to C grades has risen to over 51 percent.
Headteacher, Stephen Capper said ‘The increase in grades this year shows tremendous
progress as the college continues to improve at a pace. More than 51
percent of our Year 11 students gained five or more GCSE passes. Many
other students got up to 13 GCSEs with impressive top grades.’
Charlotte Taylor gained 13 As including six at A* putting
her among the top students in Essex.
Ryan Wilkinson gained 12 grade A passes, four of them at A*
and two and a half Bs.
But it wasn’t only good news for the GCSE students –A level
students also excelled, the pass rate rising to 93 percent, with an impressive
increase in the number of A and B grades.
Mr Capper said ‘The students at Sawyers Hall have once again
shown a high level of achievement and attainment. I am proud of their
effort and congratulate them on their personal successes. Our sixth form
is very strong and we continue to provide a wide range of subjects at
A level, BTEC and other vocational courses to meet the range of learners’
needs’.
A and B grades in A levels at the school have risen by 8.4
percent and A to E grades up by three percent. Head of Sixth Form, Mrs
Mason was delighted. ‘The students have worked very hard and fully deserve
their success.’
