SKY SPORTS - LIVING FOR SPORTS

Sky Sports - Living for Sports is a initiative which aims to help young people to be the best they can, by using sport to improve self-confidence and self-esteem as well as giving an awareness of a healthy, active life-style.

Sky mentor, Mike Mullen (former World BMX Champion), ran a series of sessions for a group of Year 10 and 11 girls on Tuesday 9th November 2010 at our college.

After putting on elbow and knee pads and helmets, the girls were ready to take part in some BMX team games. The practical session ended with the students learning how to balance on the wheel of the bike. Most of the girls tried the stunt despite being rather nervous and also persuaded several members of staff to attempt the balancing trick!

During the workshop, Mike told the girls how he had taken up BMX despite being unsuccessful at any other sport he'd tried. His story inspired the girls to reflect on how to approach life with a positive and determined attitude.
