Starting in September, the Year 13 business class began to organize an event
for their A-level coursework. The class would have to raise funds and
stage an event, in which they would be assessed and marked on. The students
decided to stage a Valentine’s Party for the Sixth Formers, where all
money raised would go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
To raise money for the event they held three ‘Dress-down-Fridays’, for the Sixth
Form where they could wear casual clothes for the day by paying just
£1 each; this raised nearly £200. They also invited a guest speaker from
the Teenage Cancer Trust to have a special assembly with the Sixth Form
in order to raise awareness of the charity.
The party was held at Bar West One in Brentwood and had over
90 people attend the event. The feedback from the party was very positive
and everyone had a great time. By organizing and staging the Valentine’s
party, the business class raised £547.59 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
