ANIMATION DAY
Art club enthusiasts from years 7 to 9 were recently invited to take part in
an animation workshop day in college, led by Anglia Ruskin University.
Members of the External Liaison Team, Ian Ericson and Rhys Bearder, brought
all the equipment necessary for creating stop motion animation videos.
The students were divided into groups of three and started by discussing
their stories and making storyboards. Using plastic figures and modelling
clay, all the characters and necessary props were created, ready for
filming in the afternoon.
Ian and Rhys demonstrated how to achieve smooth actions of the characters,
by using very small movements of the models for each frame and then helped
each group.
The students had an informative and extremely enjoyable day, which resulted
in the following films:
‘Max’s Marvellous Medicine’, ‘Blob vs Gigantica’, ‘Run, Granny, Run’,
‘Egg 1’ and ‘The Adventures of Earnald’ (correct spelling!)
The team from Anglia Ruskin University were impressed with the creativity
and enthusiasm of the students and have offered to host further animation
workshops for us.
