Sawyers Hall College are the Mid Essex Under 16 Rugby Champions after a thrilling fightback from being 12 – 7 down at half time to score 21 unanswered points in the second half. A very close 1st half which was littered with multitudes of penalties being conceded. The Sawyers Hall try was scored after a huge kick from Ben Storey allowed Adam Carter who burst through tackles to score under the posts, which was converted by James Butler. Sawyers Hall defended an onslaught from Chelmer and eventually conceded 12 points. Second half started well and eventually a moment of brilliance from scrum half Benson Madzikanda led to him beating 3 players and then running in a try from 30m again converted by Butler. Sawyers raised their game again as Chelmer began to show signs of fatigue this allowed Adrian Laci and James Butler to score tries again converted by Butler. Mr Jones said ‘The boys have worked so hard over the last few years and have a great team ethic, they train hard and support each other to compete as a team. I am very proud of their achievements’
