BRENTWOOD ROTARY FUN RUN & HALF MARATHON

Sixth form students and members of staff were cheered on by the enthusiastic crowds at the Annual Brentwood Fun Run on Sunday 20th March 2011.

Most of the runners took part in the 5K race although four 6th formers ran the half marathon, to raise money for Help for Heroes, the 75th Anniversary celebrations and for a 6th form conservation expedition to South Africa. The students need to raise money so that they can travel to South Africa, where they will spend a week carrying out conservation work in Kruger National Park and a week taking part in conservation work on a coral reef in Mozambique.

A band marched the runners to the top of Sawyers Hall Lane, where the race began and runners either ran, walked or a combination of both, to the finish line at the College. Business teacher, Miss Chong-Seng achieved the fastest time of all the members of staff in the 5K race. The money raised is still being counted but is in excess of £600.
