Outstanding Ofsted Result
On Wednesday 6 April and Thursday 7 April, Sawyers Hall was visited by Her Majesty's Inspector to inspect Economic and Business education for all students. The Inspector spent a day looking at learning across the College and interviewing a range of staff and students as well as looking at our College documentation. He then spent a further day looking closely at Business Studies as well as Citizenship and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education. The final report will be published within one month of the inspection but in his verbal feedback to staff, Governors and the Local Authority, the Inspector was quite clear that students' achievement was Grade 1, Outstanding and that students displayed excellent attitudes to learning. He was equally clear that teaching and learning was Grade 1, Outstanding and that students enjoy their learning. He commented that approaches to assessment were a particular strength. Leadership and management were also judged outstanding and in summary, HMI said that the College's overall effectiveness was Grade 1, Outstanding. This judgement is a testament to all the hard work put in by staff and students over recent years and also to the support of parents for the College. Naturally, we are delighted with the result and it is a great way to finish the term. As we return for the summer, there is a busy schedule of the examinations and assessments. The focus for all our students must now be to do even better and really excel.
