BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE!
On Monday 21st March the C21st Olympic Legacy
Education programme was officially launced in College.
Yrs 8, 9, 10, 12 & 13 attended a special
assembly with invited Olympic guest – Alison Mowbray, who told the students how she had been useless at throwing, catching, hitting
and running, when she was at school and therefore never thought of herself
as an athlete. Nevertheless, at university, she finally realised that she
was good at rowing and set
herself
the seemingly
impossible
task of winning an Olympic medal, which she eventually did, at the Athens
Olympics.
She encouraged the students to think
about what they would like to achieve in the future and then to do everything
possible to realise their dreams.
Yrs 8 & 9 later worked on the 'Be The Best You Can
Be' programme with Alison and many posed with her, wearing her Olympic
medal.
