RED NOSE DAY 2011
Sawyers Hall College was a colourful place on Friday 18th March, when students and members of staff dressed up in fancy dress or wore red to raise money for Comic Relief.
The highlight of the day was the Bush Tucker Trial, organised by members of the student council, which took place during a specially extended morning break.
Several members of staff were in the running to take part but once the votes were counted, the 'winners' were Science teacher, Mr Rodea and PE teacher, Mr Adams.
The teachers bravely searched for red noses in bowls of baked beans and flour without using their hands, ate jelly worms flavoured with chili and finally, when Mr Rodea was pronounced the winner, Mr Adams had to drink the 'Bean-a Colada'!
Despite the fun, students were aware of the serious side of Red Nose Day, having focused, during the week on some of the issues that Comic Relief was set up to address and in excess of £650 was raised.
