A 21st Century Learning Environment
At Sawyers Hall College the use of ICT is perceived to be fundamental to successful teaching and learning. ICT is part and parcel of our every day lives. Our curriculum ensures that our students are equipped to respond to the requirements of life in the 21st Century. We are creating a climate of any time - anywhere learning, and we are a secure on line community with ‘Simply Click’ where students and parents can view up-to-date news, events and access work at school and at home.
Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
· Discrete ICT lessons take place at Key Stage 3 involving students in areas of presentations, computer modelling, computer control, website designs, database construction and wider issues of ICT.
· The course followed is exciting and enriching, enabling students to demonstrate their capabilities in ICT. It deals with everyday real issues and shows how ICT can have an impact in every walk of life.
· Students have access to computer rooms at lunchtime and can use computers in our library resource centre to use after College in the Homework Club.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11)
· Short Course GCSE ICT for all students
· Diploma in Digital Applications for students and as an option subject
These 2 courses are on offer for all students utilising the College’s modern computer facilities and preparing students for life in the 21st Century. All courses involve a minimum of 60% coursework and emphasise the importance of using ICT as an everyday tool.
Key Stage 5 (Years 12-13)
· The College runs a very successful Advanced course GCE in Applied ICT with students able to opt for the single or double award.
