A Specialist College of Sport and Science
The College was designated as a Specialist Sports & Science College in September 2009 and our aim is to use the curriculum specialism
in sport and science to raise standards, achievement and attainment across
all subject areas. This designation is a welcome and well-deserved recognition
of our College’s vision and drive to provide the best possible education
for all our learners and the Community; it also ensures there are many
opportunities for our students to succeed in all areas of college life.
Our highly-qualified and committed staff encourage high standards in everything
we do, in our well ordered and caring environment.
Our Vision as a Specialist Sports and Science College is to use the ethos
of sport and science to develop and prepare our young people to lead fulfilling
lives in their future world of work. We will continue to provide them with
the opportunities to achieve their personal goals and experience success,
and to continue to celebrate all.
As a specialist college we are committed to:
* Using Sport and Science, along with other areas of the curriculum, to enrich and extend learning and contribute to whole school improvement.
* Using the specialism to further develop the college’s ethos and identity.
* Provide young people with the skills and experiences needed for employment, further education/training and higher education according to their individual abilities, aptitudes and ambitions.
* Active partnership in a variety of learning communities, working collaboratively to share resources and develop/share good practice.
* Working in partnership with the wider community, including business
and industry.
Alongside the specialism work in college, we also work with five partner
schools – Shenfield High School, The Endeavour School, Doddinghurst Junior
School,
Larchwood Primary School and St Thomas Junior School to develop high quality
teaching and learning in PE.
As a member of the Brentwood Schools Sports Partnership we are also involved
in the work to improve the number and quality of sporting opportunities
available to young people as well as playing a major role in providing
competitive sporting opportunities for young people and increasing levels
of participation.
Funding through our specialist status has led to further resources
