Course Introduction:
This course provides students with
An understanding of the scientific study of mind and behaviour. Studying
Psychology
will provide an avenue for students to become more self aware,
and to gain a better
understanding of the behaviours of others.
The course studied is designed to encourage students to:
• Learn a range of psychological aspects including Memory, Attachments
in development, Stress, Definitions and Models of Abnormality,
Social Influence and Research Methods. (AS)
• Study more of the core areas, including Biological Rhythms and
Sleep, Relationships, Development of Gender, Psychopathology, Media
Psychology, and Psychological Research & Scientific
Method.
Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to have attained:
GCSE Grade B in English Language, Science or a
humanities subject
Course Assessment:
AS Level (Year 12)
Unit 1 Cognitive & Developmental
Psychology and research methods.
AS 50% A2 25%
Unit 2 Biological, Social Psychology and individual
differences studied.
AS 50% A2 25%
Both units are assessed with structured
questions and an extended writing question.
A2 Level (Year 13)
Unit 3 Topics in Psychology
A2 25%
Assessed with essay style question
Unit 4 Psychopathology, Psychology in action & research
methods
