Course Introduction:
Do you want to work towards a creative career in the Arts? Fashion & Beauty?
Advertising or Animation? Do you like the sound of a career in architecture
or photography? If you love to paint and draw your world then A Level Art is
the choice for you!
The course studied is designed to encourage students to develop their practical experiences in Art making use of a variety of media as well as the study of the work of other artists from western and non-western backgrounds.
The course is in two parts.
1. The key to AS is analysis. AS level students work in an explorative, experimental
way, focusing on process to discover their area of strength.
2. The key to A2 is synthesis. A2 Level students develop their work in depth in order to create a resolved outcome.
Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to have attained:
GSCE Grade B in Art and a good portfolio

AS Level (Year 12)
Unit 1- Fine Art Coursework portfolio
AS 60% A2 30%
Unit 2- Controlled Assignment – Practical
5 hour examination resulting in one piece of focused planning.
AS 40% A2 20%
A2 Level (Year 13)
Unit 3- Fine Art Personal Investigation of personal significance
A2 30%
Unit 4- Fine Art Controlled Assignment
15 hours A2 20%
