In Business you will develop essential, transferable
key skills for employment, through a variety of activities, such
as presenting information and ideas through discussions, role
play, gathering and processing data, using ICT to analyse data
and present information. Business students are encouraged to become
independent learners through taking part in practical activities
such as planning and running a business or organising an event
on their own or as part of a group.
Business subjects are taught in well resourced
classrooms including two dedicated ICT suites. A number of visits
are organised throughout the year, giving students the opportunity
to see how real businesses are organised.
At Key Stage 4, students have a choice of three

Systems and BTEC First Certificate in Business. GCSE Business Studies

understanding of the business environment. GCSE Business and Communications
Systems is suitable for students who prefer a more practical course
to develop their ICT skills in a business context. Finally, BTEC
First Certificate in Business, offers students the opportunity
to study a vocational business course, which is suitable for students
who prefer a more practical way of learning and coursework based.
The Business Department also offer GCSE Leisure
and Tourism, a vocational GCSE, for students who wish to study
a vocational business course that specialises in the Leisure and
Tourism industry.
At Key Stage 5 students can study either a BTEC
First Diploma in Business (a GCSE equivalent course) or A Level
Applied Business.
