Key stage 3
Students in year 7 and 8 spend time doing lessons on basic food safety and personal
hygiene. Main topic of cooking in eating healthily and cooking
dishes with less fat.
Year 9 students start to focus on methods of cookery and skills. Students start
to study catering. Students each get a 2 hour double lesson with
helps to try out harder and more demanding dishes. Linking foods,
so a lesson could cover a number of cookery methods such as bread
making, roux sauces and boiling.
