Course Introduction:
A fully practical course designed to develop your
skills in all areas of ICT and ensure you learn the time management
skills needed when working in the real world. There are no exams
as such, although you will need to work in exam conditions to produce
complicated portfolios of coursework. At the end of the course,
depending on how well you have worked, you will gain a Level 2
qualification equivalent to 2, 3 or 4 GCSE grades A*-C
The course studied is designed to encourage students
to:
• Work independently and manage projects by setting
your own deadlines to complete products that have a realistic purpose.
It prepares your ICT skills for Level 3 AS courses such as Applied
ICT and Applied Business Studies, or BTEC courses such as Business
and Media
Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to
have attained:
GCSE A*-E Grades
Course Assessment:
Unit 201
Students must prepare a set of publications to promote an event
and persuade members of the target audience (young people) to
take part.
Unit 202
Students must prepare a storybook, which consists of a cover page,
contents page, main story pages with two routes and two different
animated endings.
Unit 203
Students must produce graphic products such as 2D designs for characters
and images of the 3D characters which can be made from them,
a backdrop, a design for a packaging top, a representation of
the packaging and an on-screen product consisting of still images.
Unit 204
Students are required to work in teams to plan an enterprise campaign.
This is not about making money but about promoting awareness
and encouraging people to take action.
