Course Introduction:
This course provides students with a sound understanding of the nature of the Law and an appreciation of the role of Law in Society.

The course studied is designed to encourage students to:
• Develop an interest in current affairs and politics. It affords the opportunity to debate topical issues, drawing on legal authority to support one’s arguments.

Law Making and the Legal System
Parliamentary Law Making
Delegated Legislation
Dispute Resolution

Spring Term Year 12

Judicial Precedent
Civil Courts

Summer Term Year 12

Criminal Liability
Introduction to Tort

Year 13

Criminal Law: fatal and non fatal offences against the person
Criminal Law: offences against property


Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to have attained:

GSCE Grade B in English
Or
GSCE Grade B in History


Course Assessment:
AS Level (Year 12)

Unit 1 Law Making
One hour 30 minutes written exam

Unit 2 Criminal Liability and Tort
One hour 30 minutes written exam

A2 Level (Year 13)

Unit 4 Criminal Liability
Two hour written exam

Unit 5 Criminal Law
