Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to have attained:
GCSE Grade B in English
A GCSE Grade of C or above in Media Studies is an advantage
Course Assessment:
AS Level (Year 12)
Unit 1 Investigating Media
Assessed by a 2 hour examination
Section A – short questions on unseen stimulus material.
Section B – one essay question based on cross-media case study.
50% AS 25% A2
Unit 2 Creating Media
Coursework
Two linked production pieces across two different media platforms (broadcast,
e-media, print) from a choice of set briefs.
Written evaluation on both production pieces.

Unit 3 Critical Perspectives
Assessed by a 2 hour examination
Section A – three compulsory questions on unseen stimulus materials.
Section B – one essay question from a choice of two pre-set topics.

Linked practical production piece.
