Course Introduction:
This course provides students with the opportunity t gain practical skills in recording and sequencing as well as gaining a broad understanding of music from a range of genres.

The course studied is designed to encourage students to:
• Understand the development of Music Technology
• Develop practical recording and sequencing skills
• Study the impact of Music Technology in its wider social and historical context


Course Outline:
Autumn Term Year 12

• Practical work involving computer sequencing and sound recording

Spring Term Year 12

• Study of western classical music alongside popular music and jazz.

Summer Term Year 12

• Development of Music Technology

Year 13

• Practical skills including production techniques and composition using technology.
• Music and the Spoken Word and Music and the Moving Image.


Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to have attained:

GSCE Grade B in Music
