Course Introduction:
This course provides students with a subject that
is ideal for those who intend to follow careers in Design. The
subject is a complement to an Art and or Design Subject at AS.
You will study the techniques, practice and theory
of Photography. This will include the use of SLR cameras and the
developing and printing of photographs using the dark room.
You will also study the use of digital cameras
and digital imagery with a strong focus on Digital Manipulation,
Special Effects and how to create amazing visuals.
You will look at the work of other Photographers
and develop research skills. Lessons will be a combination of taught
lessons, set reports and projects. A mature attitude towards study
is essential.
The course studied is designed to encourage students
to:
• Have an entry into College or University degree courses in Photography,
Media and Film studies.
• Entry to College and University degree courses in Art and Design.
• Entry to training courses within specialist photographic industries.
• Gain employment within the Media, Fashion and Film Industries.
• Have a personal development in a new skill and interest for life.
Entry Requirements:
To succeed in this course students will need to
have attained:
GCSE Grade B in English, Art and Design or Design
and Technology.

AS Level (Year 12)
Unit 1: Specialist Project: 30% (15% A2)
Unit 2: Specialist Project: 30% (15% A2)
Unit 3: Controlled Test 40% (20% A2)
A2 Level (Year 13)
Unit 4: Specialist Project: 15%
Unit 5: Specialist Project with 1000 Words
or a Personal Study: 15%
Unit 6: Controlled Test: 20%
