BTEC Sport First Certificate (Level 2)

All Coursework One Year Course

Course Introduction:
A BTEC First Certificate is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Assessment is continuous throughout the course. There is no examination at the end. BTEC First Certificate in Sport is equivalent to two GCSE grades A*-C.
The course studied is designed to encourage students to:

1. Progress towards the completion of the Level 3 National Certificate in Sport
2. Gain a qualification that will be recognised by employers and educational institutions

Course Assessment:
1. Health, Safety & Injury in Sport;
This unit will give a good understanding of Health & Safety in sport & how participants can try to avoid injury. Basic definitions of risks and hazards are explored.

2. Preparation for Sport;
Learners will gain an insight into the essential preparation required for successful sports performance.

3. Practical Sport;
Focuses on developing and improving the learner’s own practical sports performance.

Where appropriate theoretical work is supported by trips and visits to sporting organisations and students will gain additional qualifications such as a:

The course prepares young people for careers in the sports sector.
BTEC qualifications are recognised by employers and education institutions.
