BTEC Sport First Certificate (Level 3)

ALL COURSEWORK
ONE/TWO YEAR COURSE

Course Introduction

A BTEC National Certificate is a practical, work related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Assessment is continuous throughout the course. There is no examination at the end. This course is the equivalent to two A Levels. Your final grade will be a pass, merit or distinction. It is equivalent to two GCSE’s which are completed in one year

The course studied is designed to encourage students to:

• Gain qualifications that are recognised by employers and educational institutions. They provide a good progression to more advanced qualifications or straight in to work.

Entry Requirements:

To succeed in this course students will need to have attained:

5 or more GCSE Grades A*-C

Course Assessment:
Year 12 Units covered;

• The Body in Action
• Health & Safety in Sport
• Training & Fitness for Sport
• Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
• Practical Team Sports
• Leadership in Sport

Theoretical work is supported by trips and visits to sporting organisations and students will gain additional qualifications such as;

• RFU Level 1 Referee Award
• FA Level 1 Coaching Badge

Year 13 Units covered;

These will be decided depending on progress/decisions made in year 12.

This is a two year course, equivalent to two A Level qualifications, although it can potentially be a one year course.
