Physical Education and Sports
The PE department at Sawyers Hall College is extremely active! We have a wide
range of sports on offer to our students and we regularly compete
in borough and county competitions. Our flood lit Astro Turf facility
gives us an all weather pitch all year round. Along with our large
Sports Hall we have a Gymnasium, Health and Fitness room, High
Fenced Hard Courts, field sports areas and a large sports field.
After the college day, which ends at 3pm, we have sports clubs and training sessions
running throughout the week.
The Girls Getting Active programme was introduced
at the start of October through the School Sport Partnership. Girls
from Year 10 and 11 who may not necessarily do any other form of
extra curricular PE were invited to attend 7 weeks of Street Dance
and 6 weeks of Kick Boxing. The idea was to introduce new sports
that we didnt offer within the PE Department. It has been very
successful with 15 to 20 girls attending each Tuesday after school.
We have also been granted money to pay for a cheerleading
coach who comes in on a Thursday after school. This is for KS3
girls, who are learning a dance routine and cheerleading stunts
such as building pyramids to take part in a competition against
other Brentwood schools in February.
In PE we offer BTEC Vocational, GCSE and A Level
studies that compliment our physical activity programme.
If you want to gain coaching qualifications come
along and join the BTEC programme.
Get excited about sports at Sawyers Hall College,
come and join the team.
